Description
ULTRA LOW PROFILE PLATFORM BED by WILBUR DAVIS STUDIOS
This ultra low platform bed is designed to keep the bed height to an absolute minimum, while also keeping the mattress off the floor and allowing adequate airflow. The piece functions wonderfully in a finished attic space or other room with low ceilings, or any space where a low profile bed is desirable.
Like our other beds, we designed it with strong joinery and a clean simple appearance. We designed this frame to come apart easily and move without a lot of fuss. Once assembled though, it becomes clear that this is a piece that is here to stay. To accomplish this, we utilize solid wood joinery in combination with a high quality fastener system that locks the joint with incredible strength. This joinery method stays perfectly tight and will serve you well for many years to come.
Our bed is built with robust beech slats that nest into pocketed beech rails. Beds larger than twin are constructed with a solid beech mid beam and center leg to prevent sagging. The bed is designed for use without a foundation or box spring.

Matthew and Kelly are talented craftspeople. They custom designed, created and shipped an ultra low profile platform bed frame for my attic space. Throughout the process they showed great flexibility, creativity and attention to detail — making sure it met the design challenges of the space as well as my personal aesthetics. Great work…and a great team!

Perfectly made! Beautiful, solid construction, and, if you can believe it, far easier to assemble than anything from IKEA.

Despite being a minimalist bed frame, this is an intricately engineered work of art. It is really eye-catching, with or without a mattress! I’m a skinny woman, and I alone assembled it in an hour, and part of that time was just the unpacking — it was packed very well! Once assembled, it is rock-solid and designed to stay that way. Because this is my first slat bed, I had somewhat of an anxiety attack (after purchase) about the frame’s appropriateness for the futon mattress I purchased. Kelly assured me that this frame would support the futon perfectly well, and it does, better than expected — a very comfortable pairing. I chose a custom clear-laquer finish, which is beautiful, and really enhances the frame’s wood. This is a lasting and memorable purchase, and many thanks to Kelly and Matthew for making it so!
