Platform Bed No. 1

A classic platform bed with solid wood strength and timeless design.

Platform Bed No. 1 was the very first bed we designed—born from the frustration of not being able to find a simple, modern bed that was also built to last. Many "wood" beds on the market had their shortcomings: thin boards that wobbled, finishes with harsh chemical off-gassing, or hardware that loosened over time. So in 2012, we decided to build our own—stronger, cleaner, and more beautiful.

This bed features bold 2.75" square rails for a clean, modern profile with exceptional stability. Sculpted tangent legs and refined headboard details give it a distinctive elegance. The solid wood headboard has a floating center panel designed to expand and contract naturally with the seasons, preventing warping over time.

Assembly is simple and rock-solid. Mortise and tenon joinery, paired with bed bolts at the rails, provides exceptional strength while allowing the bed to be disassembled for moving. This hardware system keeps the frame tightly locked together for years of squeak-free use.

We use durable hardwood slats nested into pocketed rails, spaced under 2" apart to ensure proper mattress support and airflow. Beds larger than twin include a hardwood center beam with a support leg to prevent sagging. No foundation or box spring required.
